Dr. Zhong is the Senior Director of Clinical Research and Development for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. She provides leadership to the Cleveland Clinic Alzheimer’s trial network and pursues programs to maintain brain health. She brings over 15 years of diversified clinical and pharmaceutical research experience to the center.

Dr. Zhong received her MD degree from West China University of Medical Sciences in Sichuan, China. She earned her Master Degree in Pharmacology and completed her residency in psychiatry at University of Toronto, Canada.

As the attending geriatric psychiatrist at Riverview and Royal Columbia hospital, Vancouver, Dr. Zhong gained extensive experience in providing treatment and care for patients with neurocognitive disorders. While working as the Medical Director and Seroquel Brand Global Physician for one the world’s leading pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca, Dr. Zhong led multiple global clinical trials in CNS therapeutic areas including Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Zhong has been a scientific consultant for multiple pharmaceutical, patient recruitment and rater training companies. Dr. Zhong has provided multifaceted services to industry and academic centers both in US and in Asia. She has assisted sponsors with the strategic planning and execution for site selection, patient recruitment, rater training and overall trial implementation. She consulted on issues related to drug development including the regulatory approval process, due diligences, market analysis and product commercialization.

Dr. Zhong has worked closely with patient advocacy groups, philanthropic organizations and research-orientated foundations, she has been actively engaged in public education and community activities on clinical research and trials related issues.

Dr. Zhong was featured in Los Angeles Business Journal (2009) and Beverly Hills Life Style (2010) for her scientific contributions to clinical research and drug development. Dr. Zhong has a US patent pending invention featuring technology enhancing quality of clinical trials.
