Paul Steelman is a native of Atlantic City, New Jersey and is the CEO of Steelman Partners. Paul’s design company specializes in entertainment and casino design projects throughout the world. He is widely recognized as a leader in casino entertainment architecture.
Paul got his start as an architect working in his father’s practice, since he was a small boy. Paul started making prints, and graduated to assisting his architect father in the completion of working drawings for his various projects.
Paul graduated from Clemson University in 1977 and started his pursuit of an architectural life. His first job was with his father’s architecture firm in which he caught the entertainment design fever designing several pieces of the first Atlantic City Casino and Resorts International.
After one year with working with his father, Paul went to work for the City of Atlantic City in the Planning and Development Department.
He met all of the famous casino architects and eventually took a job with Joel Bergman and Steve Wynn designing the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City. Paul worked for Steve Wynn for nine years designing many of the Mirage Resorts projects.
Paul opened his own practice specializing in entertainment design in 1987. Steve Wynn was one of his first clients. His first project in business grossed $150,000.00. 20 years later, the firm grossed over $52,000,000 making it the number one ranked architectural firm in the Southwestern United States.
Paul has completed and constructed every type of casino project, from Resort, to Local Casino, to Riverboat, to Barge based, to Native American, to Pari-mutuel, to European Casinos. Paul has designed projects in 40 states and 30 countries throughout the world.
Paul has designed buildings for many large entertainment companies including: MGM, Mirage Resorts, Station Casinos, and Harrah’s Entertainment, Sheraton, Hyatt, Sun International, Caesars, Las Vegas Sands, Disney, Hard Rock, Holland Casinos, SBM Monte Carlo (Monaco) and many others.
Paul also has created many subsidiary companies expanding his architectural practice beyond pure building design. They Include Shop 12, specializing in entertainment lighting, Steelman Development, specializing in real estate development and ownership, and Hyperion, specializing in energy efficient designed buildings and products.
