Dr. Randy Schiffer
Medical Director, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health
Dr. Schiffer assumed leadership of the newly established, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in January of this year. Prior to that, he held the Vernon and Elizabeth Haggerton Chair in Neurology, and served as Chair of the combined Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science at Texas Tech University. At Texas Tech Dr. Schiffer was Co-Founder, with academic leaders from Baylor, UT Southwestern, and the University of North Texas, of the Texas Alzheimer's Research Consortium, a state wide research initiative to commit public resources to the better understanding of the molecular genetic bases of Alzheimer's disease.
In the early 1990’s Dr. Schiffer was Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs of the Department of Neurology at the University of Rochester, and Co-PI of the National Institute of Aging funded Alzheimer's Disease Coordinating Center. He has participated in, and led the development of a variety of clinical trial experiments in the areas of multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, pseudobulbar affect, and depression. He is dually trained and board certified both in psychiatry and in neurology, and has committed his professional career to understanding and treating neural based behavioral disorders.

Dr. Charles Bernick
Associate Medical Director, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health
Dr. Bernick graduated summa cum laude from Rice University with a BA degree in history. He received his MD from University of Texas Southwestern, being elected to the medical honor society, alpha omega alpha. Dr. Bernick completed a neurology residency at the University of Miami, followed by a fellowship in neurology at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Bernick has been involved in the field of Alzheimer’s Disease research and treatment for close to 20 years, beginning as the attending neurologist for the University of California, Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Center. Dr. Bernick moved to Las Vegas in 1994 to join the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Since that time, he has directed the development of a statewide network of Alzheimer’s disease care, with clinics in Las Vegas, Reno and Elko.
In addition to co-authoring numerous scientific articles, Dr. Bernick has participated in studies of virtually every medication now available for Alzheimer’s disease.
He has served as a grant reviewer and committee member for the national Alzheimer’s Association and is currently part of their regional Medical and Scientific Committee.
