The old adage that knowledge is power serves as a guiding principle for caregivers. When a loved one has been diagnosed with a neurocognitive disease, there is much to learn. Our goal is to provide a variety of educational opportunities, information and support especially designed to meet the unique needs of family and professional caregivers. Through a broad education curriculum, we will offer caregivers and family members a pathway for increasing key knowledge and skills helpful in caring for an individual with a neurocognitive illness.
Planning is underway to create a month calendar of events. In addition to disease specific information, popular topics will include:
- Reducing caregiver stress
- Keeping your loved one safe
- Building communication techniques
- Implementing coping strategies for challenging behaviors
- Strengthening caregiver skills
- Connecting to community resources
Programs will be presented in a variety of site-based online formats to accommodate differing learning preferences and schedules such as:
- Lectures
- Ongoing classes
- Lunch and learn series
- Special events
- Book clubs
- Support groups
- Intergenerational programs
- Video and web-based programs
- Lending library
Presenters and faculty represent Keep Memory Alive, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health as well as community partners and other organizations. Programs using video and web-based technology will be developed to increase access to our educational options beyond our Las Vegas, Nevada location.
We always welcome the suggestions of caregivers for program topics. To sign-up for education updates or to share your ideas for programming, please e-mail hirschs2@ccf.org or call 702-483-6023. Visit this section often to view the calendar of events and other related information.
