Information Series for Those Newly Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis

Individuals newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their families are encouraged to attend this free, educational series open to the community.  For participation via teleconference, each Wednesday, we will broadcast the session to Elko, Nevada.

During the 6 week series you will have an opportunity to:

  • Understand how the disease can affect individuals and families at home and at work
  • Learn strategies for managing the disease from symptoms, to nutrition, to exercise, to long-term planning
  • Find out if a support group is right for you
  • Have an opportunity to receive answers to questions that you and other attendees might share
  • Realize that you’re not alone in living with this life-changing disease

The session topics are as follows:

3/12/14:  MS:  What it is, what it isn't and what is next by Dr. Le Hanh Hua, Neurologist at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

3/19/14:  MS Symptom Management by Dr. Tim West, Neurologist at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

3/26/14:  Coping with MS by Joanne Farichild, LCSW at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

4/2/14:  Nutrition and Exercise for MS patients by Erica Heisler, MS, CSCS, nutrition and exercise counselor

4/9/14:  Introduction to Community Support Groups by Darlene Trotsky, support group leader

4/16/14:  Question and Answer with Dr. Tim West, Neurologist at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (UPDATED EVENT)
